It is proposed to set up a clay thrower on the range directly behind the Club House. This will be manually operated and available to Club Members for their use. For now you will need to provide your own Clays, Ammo and Shotguns however this may change in the future.

The Club has the nearest Sighting In Range to Palmerston North. With recent developments the Range is now much more pleasant to use.
It offers targets at 25m, 50m and 100m. When shooting on this range please remember some common curtsies.
- Shoot only on the backing boards provided
- DON’T shoot the uprights please. These are costly to replace
- Remove your targets when finished and put in the bin provided
- If you’re not taking your brass away, a container is provided to put it in. Please Brass only, steel cases in the rubbish
- NO glass or cans to be used as targets
- Be respectful of others wanting to use the range also. It’s great that you want to develop your loads but taking up the range for half the day when others also want to check sighting is not so good.
You can join the Club for just rifle sighting if you wish. The standard membership fees applies however the Range Fee is just $50.00 for the year. If you bring a non-member with you remember that there is a $10.00 range fee for them. After 2 visits as a Guest you must join the Club to come again. It’s just like the green fees when you play golf.
Our thanks to Kynoch Construction and others for supplying us with our backing Boards.
ISSF (Olympic style) Pistol events are shot over 10m, 25m and 50m ranges. At RR&GC we shoot several events including 10m and 25m Pistol, centre fire, rapid fire Pistol and the standard match.
ISSF Pistol is the first discipline new shooters learn at our club, so there is a big focus on safety.
To begin Shooting you will require a firearms licence, hearing protection and eye protection. A Limited supply of Ammunition is available for Beginners, for a Match you will require about 60 rounds of .22, We recommend CCI Standard Velocity Ammunition ,which is available locally from Hunting & Fishing Manawatu. (a RRGC Sponsor)
We shoot a match every Sunday at 9am and Wednesday at 11.00am on Range 5.
Club Pistols are available for beginner/probationary shooters
(Not Currently Available) Training evenings can be arranged 5:30 - 7pm, 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month with the Approval from the Section Head & Committee
IPSC is a practical Shooting sport that involves Shooting on the move, negotiating obstacles and employing tactics to hit multiple cardboard targets.
IPSC athletes must blend accuracy, power, and speed into a winning combination. Targets are 75 centimeters by 45 centimeters with a 15 centimeter center representing the "A zone" or bullseye.
Most Shooting takes place at relatively close distances, with rare shots out to 50 meters. Hitting a 15 centimeter zone might seem easy to an experienced Pistol shooter, but in IPSC only full power handguns are used (9mm or larger).
Mastering a full power handgun is considerably more difficult than Shooting a light recoiling target Pistol, especially when the competitor is trying to go as fast as possible. Time is a key factor. Scores are divided by the time taken to achieve them, adding to the challenge.
We shoot most Saturdays at 9am on Range 1. Most Sundays at 1pm for Holster Qualified on Range 1
